Subject: Upcoming Election for the Board of Trustees

                ENDORSEMENT FLIER
                Flier attached with this e-mail.

Dear Colleagues,

I apologize if this mailing is a duplicate. Earlier this week the Executive Board of your
Instructors' Association sent out a flyer regarding the upcoming election for the Board of
Trustees. Many of our colleagues did not receive this flyer. This is a critical election and
the outcome will affect how this college is governed in the years to come.

The IA Executive Board feels that it is our duty to our membership to weigh in on this
critical choice. You elected us to represent you and we have served as your ears and eyes,
attending the meetings and the work sessions of the Board of Trustees over a period
spanning many years. We are not speaking for the membership of the Instructors'
Association. We speak only for ourselves. However we voted unanimously on the
endorsement attached.

To help each of our members make an informed choice, the Instructors' Association in
partnership with the Academic Senate, the Student Senate and CSEA, is sponsoring a
forum for all the candidates in the upcoming election. Details are in the flyer attached.
Please make every effort to attend.

Our lawyer and the lawyer for the district differ on the right to freedom of speech in this
set of circumstances. To avoid unnecessary conflict, further communication from your IA
regarding this election will originate from this e-mail address.

Lynne Elisabeth Stark Ph.D.
President / SBCC Instructors Association.
