EMAILED TO YOUR PIPELINE ACCOUNT:
(If you are not receiving emails from me in Pipeline, check registration
status, junk folder settings, etc.)
EARTH-101
ASTRONOMY COURSE:
You are enrolled in my ERTH-101 Astronomy course. Class starts next
week. Students who do not come the first few classes will be dropped to
make rooms for those trying to add. Parking on campus can be
difficult. Be sure to arrive early to assure that you are on time. The
class meets in PS-101. Don't confuse PS-101 with ES-101 or EBS-101.
The PS-101 class is its own building up the hill from the bookstore
about half way toward the Student Services building.
HOW TO
ADD THE CLASS:
If you are getting this email, you are already enrolled. However, for
those who are trying to add, the class is full, but there may be some
spots that open up due to other students dropping or switching their
schedules around. To add the class, come the first day of class and
fully attend each class session until the end of the two week "add
period". Then, depending on how many students have dropped, add codes
will be given out to those who have been attending. There is no
guarantee that a spot will open up for you (but we will do our best to
get you in provided that a seat opens up).
SWITCHING
SECTIONS in ERTH-101:
To switch sections, you have to try and add the section as described
above, then drop the section you are in. Let the instructor know you
are trying to switch sections.
ERTH-101H
Honors Astronomy:
If you are a member of the Honors Program, consider taking the honors
section of astronomy. If you are not a member of the Honors Program,
consider joining. The Honors Section of Astronomy is only offered in
spring (so won't be offered next fall). Don't miss out! Click here for
eligibility and additional info.

ERTH-105
Topics in Astronomy (Recent NASA Missions):
Consider adding this 1 unit class taught by a JPL Scientist who works
with the Mars Rovers and other on-going missions. This class explores
recent discoveries from planetary space flight missions. Only 1 unit,
meets every other Friday from 10-12. Not a very hard class, but very
interesting and full of great visuals. You don't need to have completed
ERTH-101 to take this class. Only offered in spring (so won't be
offered next fall). Don't miss out! Click here for more info.

ERTH-102 ASTRONOMY LAB:
The ERTH-102 Astronomy lab is not required for students who are enrolled
in the ERTH-101 Astronomy lecture. Without the lab, the lecture
transfers as a science "without" a lab. With the lab, the class
transfers as a science "with" a lab. If you wish to take the lab, you
do not need to take the lab the same semester you take the lecture.
Taking the lab any future semester will work for transferability.
ERTH 102
ASTRONOMY LAB TIMES:
For those enrolled in the Astronomy Lab, be sure to come at 4 pm this
week for the Mon or Tues night lab, and 7 pm for the Wed or Thurs night
lab. Lab WILL MEET the first week for a couple of hours, and those who
do not attend WILL BE DROPPED. No need to buy anything in advance, just
be sure to come so that you are not dropped. For the Mon night section
and the Tues night section, there are some funny times printed in the
schedule. Ignore these for now and come at 4 pm the night you are
enrolled and the times will be clarified. Note that the lab meets
off-campus. Here are directions:
